چکیده

Retrospective, single center review between 2015 and 2019. Perigraft aortic sac embolization using thrombin gelfoam liquid was performed at the conclusion of endovascular (EVAR) in 44 patients with patent inferior mesenteric artery or lumbar arteries on angiogram. After an average follow-up approximately 1 year, none aneurysm sacs increased diameter about two-thirds demonstrated regression. Freedom from type II endoleak 87%. Patients only required reintervention for Ib limb occlusion. effective prophylactic tool to prevent endoleak.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Type II Endoleaks

Type II endoleaks occur commonly following endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). Although they remain enigmatic, multiples studies have evaluated preoperative risk factors and strategies for prevention of type II endoleaks. Prophylactic treatment of type II endoleaks can include embolization of accessory arteries, as well as complete aneurysmal sac occlusion. Regular post-operative surveillance ...

Prophylactic accessory renal artery coil embolization for prevention of type II endoleak following endovascular aneurysm repair: a case report

BACKGROUND Prior reports indicate that intentional coverage of the accessory renal arteries (ARAs) with a diameter larger than 3 mm during endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) increases risk of additional treatment for type II endoleak. Here, we report a case of prophylactic coil embolization for a 4 mm ARA originating from an abdominal aortic aneurysm. CASE PRESENTATION A 76-year-old woman wa...

Evaluation and Coil Embolization of the Aortic Side Branches for Prevention of Type II Endoleak after Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Objectives: Aneurysm shrinkage after EVAR is the strong factor of favorable outcomes after endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR), and type II endoleaks is the risk factor of no aneurysm shrinkage or aneurysm enlargement in the long term. In this study, we evaluate the aortic side branches relate to early postoperative type II endoleak, and performed coil embolization for those ve...

Embolization for type 2 endoleak with sac expansion after endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm: safety and effectiveness

To evaluate the safety and outcome of embolization as treatment for persistent type 2 endoleak (T2EL) occurring after abdominal aortic stent graft implantation. This retrospective study included seven consecutive patients (one female, six males, mean age 72 years, range 66-88 years) with T2EL between January 2011 and September 2012. In all, T2EL was associated with an increase more than 5 mm in...

Is Inferior Mesenteric Artery Embolization Indicated Prior to Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm?

Type II endoleak is a common condition occurring after endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms (EVAR), and may result in aneurysm sac growth and/or rupture in a small number of patients. A prophylactic strategy of inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) embolization before EVAR has been advocated, however, the benefits of this strategy are controversial. A clinical vignette allows the author...
